Intended Audience: engineers, engineer-managers, managing directors of local road-owning agencies

This fast-paced 8-week active-learning workshop meets on select Wednesdays January 8th through March 5th (see below), 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET). It equips participants with strategies for improving their workplace writing and presentations.

Participants will learn to:
• analyze their own sentences.
• spot common sentence errors.
• write persuasive and convincing paragraphs.
• craft business letters and responses to complaints.
• create more engaging board reports.
• prepare and deliver eye-catching and impactful presentations.

Week 1: Parts of Speech, Sentences, Clauses & Phrases
Wednesday, January 8, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
What you’ll need: Your own writing samples and four different colored pens.

Week 2: Sentence Analytics & Organization
Wednesday, January 15, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
Prerequisite: Attendance of Week 1 Session
What you’ll need: Your own writing samples and four different colored pens.

Week 3: Concise & Clear Writing
Wednesday, January 22, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
What you’ll need: Your own writing samples and four different colored pens.

Week 4: Persuasive Paragraphs | Intros & Conclusions for Writing and Presentations
Wednesday, January 29, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
What you’ll need: Your own writing samples and four different colored pens.

Week 5: Business Letters & Emails + Responding to Complaints
Wednesday, February 5, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
No special materials needed.

Week 6: Board Reports | Review
Wednesday, February 19, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
No special materials needed.

Week 7: Presentations – Handouts & Slide Design
Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
What you’ll need: A previous presentation you’ve created or a board report.

Week 8: Presentations – Data Design & Delivering Your Message
Wednesday, March 5, 2025 - 2:00pm-3:00pm (ET)
What you’ll need: A previous presentation you’ve created or a board report.

Registration gains you access to all 8 sessions of the workshop. The registration deadline for this online event is January 5, 2025.
